The DAISY and BEE award

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. The DAISY Award was created in his memory to recognize nurses that make a meaningful difference in a patient’s care.

The BEE Award celebrates and honors the exceptional skills and compassion given by our non-nursing colleagues every day. It stands for “Being Exceptional Everyday” and acknowledges the strength behind teamwork. Our BEE Award honorees demonstrate the mission and values of our hospital each and every day. They are recognized as role models in our facility. Lakeview Hospital is proud to recognize a BEE winner every quarter. Each BEE Award Honoree is recognized in their unit and receives a certificate, award pin, and a special bee themed gift basket.
