Maternity classes

Being educated and prepared are essential to feeling comfortable and secure as you prepare for your baby's arrival. This is why we offer maternity classes at our birthing center. Through these maternity classes, we educate you on current information as well as timeless techniques regarding pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care—so you can approach the big day with confidence.

Whether you are a first-time parent or just needing a refresher, join us at one of our classes:

Lakeview Hospital does not currently have maternity classes scheduled, however our sister hospital St. Mark’s has a variety of in-person and virtual options available below. We are, however, accepting in-person tours of the unit. Please call (801) 299-2172 to arrange.

Labor and delivery tours

In-person tours are welcome. With current COVID regulations, we can accommodate two adults to tour the unit. To schedule an appointment call (801) 299-2172.

High-risk pregnancy care

If you need specialized care for a high-risk pregnancy, we can help. We partner with the maternal-fetal medicine doctors at our sister facility, St. Mark's Hospital, for comprehensive high-risk pregnancy care.

You likely have questions about what you should bring to the hospital for your baby, so we've compiled a short list. Please bring:

You are welcome to bring more items for your newborn, but please know our birthing center provides the following:

If your baby needs neonatal intensive care after birth, our neonatologists and neonatal nurses provide gentle, expert care in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). As a Level II NICU, we have the expertise and resources to care for ill and premature babies born as early as 32 weeks gestation.

Postpartum care

After birth, we continue to provide you with an abundance of support and personalized care. Our team is here to help you learn to care for your baby as well as care for your baby when you need time to rest.

Some of our postpartum support services and amenities include:

• In-room accommodations for your support person and space for your baby to room-in
• Special "Stork Dinner" for two
• Hearing tests for newborns
• Circumcision education and services
• Breastfeeding support from lactation consultants, if you choose to breastfeed
• Infant security system to protect your baby throughout your hospital stay

Postpartum depression support

It's not uncommon to experience postpartum depression within the first year of your baby's birth. If you think you may have this condition, please know it is highly treatable and that we are here for you with complete behavioral health services. Talk to your OBGYN about symptoms and treatment options available in our family of hospitals.

If you are unable to care for your newborn, you can give up custody anonymously at any hospital in Utah, including ours, which is a Utah Newborn Safe Haven facility. Together, we are here to help.
