Salt Lake City, Utah — As part of HCA Healthcare, HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division – known locally and across Utah as MountainStar Healthcare – announced Wednesday that the HCA Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to The Other Side Academy to expand access to consistent behavioral health resources within their Other Side Village expansion. The funding is part of the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, a community impact fund with an initial investment of $75 million focused on addressing high priority community needs.

The Other Side Village was selected because of its innovative, community-centered approach to supporting individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness, many of whom face significant mental health and substance use challenges. Through permanent housing, wraparound support services, behavioral health resources, and strong community integration, the organization aligns closely with HCA Healthcare’s focus on championing positive mental wellness.

“HCA Healthcare’s support helps The Other Side Village meet people where they are, not just with housing, but with real community, accountability, and access to mental health care that many of our Villagers have gone without for years. This grant helps us to keep our services free and forward focused for people who’ve lived through chronic homelessness so that they can finally begin to heal, build personal and employable skills, navigate healthy relationships with themselves and others, and believe they matter again,” said Cathy Holt, Development Director for The Other Side Academy. “Community is the catalyst! We're grateful for the support, advocacy, and belief in our Human First model that moves the needle on alleviating chronic homelessness in Utah.”

The partnership also builds on a growing relationship between the two organizations through colleague volunteer engagement and shared leadership development initiatives, creating opportunities for meaningful long-term collaboration and community impact. In 2025 alone, more than 50 Mountain Division colleagues contributed over 120 volunteer hours with The Other Side Academy and their various social enterprises, further underscoring the division’s shared commitment to fostering positive mental wellness initiatives in the communities where colleagues live, work and serve.

Funding the Healthier Tomorrow Fund at the HCA Healthcare Foundation is one example of the many ways HCA Healthcare is making a positive impact in the communities it serves. In 2024, HCA Healthcare provided charity care, uninsured discounts and other uncompensated care at an estimated cost of $4.4 billion. Additionally, HCA Healthcare contributed more than $48.5 million to community organizations in 2024.
