Intensive newborn care
Sometimes after birth, your baby may require a bit more help. We know this can be an unsettling thought, but the experts in our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) have your child's health as their highest priority.
Our neonatologists and NICU nurses care for ill and premature babies born as early as 28 weeks. If your baby needs to stay the NICU, we encourage you to visit your child as often as you want. Our NICU staff members are available to answer any questions and will support you in any way they can.
Postpartum care
After delivery, our maternity team provides postpartum care throughout your hospital stay. Our goal is to help you learn to care for your new baby and begin a healthy recovery.
Your room will have plenty of space for your baby to room-in with you, but our nurses are available to care for your newborn in our well-baby nursery if you need to rest or care for yourself.
During your postpartum stay, we offer:
- Advanced infant security system
- Flexible visiting hours for friends and family from 9:00am – 9:00pm
- Gourmet meal for two to celebrate your new baby
- Hearing tests for newborns
- A sleeper sofa so that your partner can "room in" with you
- Kernicterus prevention and jaundice testing and monitoring as well as light therapy when needed
- Circumcision education and services
Lactation services
Lactation services are available daily. Every patient will have an opportunity to speak to our lactation specialist. They are available for free phone consult for 30 days after delivery to assist you if you choose to breastfeed.
Childbirth and parenting classes
We believe education is a key factor in preparing you for labor and delivery, and we are here to help you approach the big day with confidence. The childbirth services team at Lone Peak Hospital provides maternity and parenting classes both online and in person.
If you are pressed for time or prefer to learn at your own pace in the comfort of your home, our online classes can fit your schedule and learning style.
Do you prefer hands-on, live-presentation learning? In-person childbirth and parenting classes are held at our labor and delivery center several times each month. To accommodate working parents, classes are scheduled in the evenings and on Saturdays.
