Relief from neck pain
When medication and other treatments didn't work, David turned to Brigham City Community Hospital for physical therapy.
David McFarland was having terrible neck pain. He visited a neurologist who prescribed muscle relaxers, but the relief was only temporary. It wasn't until he started physical therapy at Brigham City Community Hospital that he finally started to feel better.
"I used heating pads. I took pain medication. Nothing worked," describes David. "It was then that my neurologist suggested I consider physical therapy."
David says that from his very first physical therapy session with Michael Taylor, PT, he started to feel better. David attended sessions twice each week for a month, and after the first week he was able to ditch the heating pad and now rarely has to use pain medication.
"With David, we worked with manual therapy and joint mobilization to improve range of motion and reduce stiffness in the upper back and neck, and we also discussed and implemented a comprehensive home exercise plan so he could continue to progress at home," says his physical therapist, Michael.
David is grateful to Michael and Brigham City Community Hospital for helping relieve his pain and giving him the tools and knowledge for what to do when he has an outbreak. "It's something I may deal with forever, so I'm glad I now know what to do to feel better — with no drugs involved," David says. "What Michael gave me has helped a ton; I just thank him so much."
